Each January brings a fresh wave of resolutions — gym memberships, budget plans, reading lists. Most are abandoned by February. But there is one resolution that has never failed those who keep it: meditating on Scripture.

Biblical meditation is not emptying the mind. It is filling it — disciplined thought, focused on a single passage or promise, turning it over like a stone in the hand until every facet catches the light.

The Psalmist who declared, "I have stored up your word in my heart" (Psalm 119:11), was not describing memorization alone, but the active, repeated return to truth until it reshapes desire.

A Meditative Exercise

Begin with Isaiah 40:3–4. Read it slowly. Ask three questions: What does God promise here? What does it reveal about His character? What response does it demand of me?

Consistent biblical reflection does not merely inform — it transforms. It enables a deeper relationship with God, because we come to know not just about Him, but to encounter Him in the text.

This is the resolution worth keeping.
